Coastal path Rheinhessen

If you hike along the coastal path of Rheinhessen, you will go on a journey through time. The whole region was flooded by a subtropical sea about 30 million years ago, after the upper Rhine rift valley and the Mainz basin sank due to earth crust movements.

This tour takes you along the coastline of that time. Imagine the volcanic islands and the sea in your mind's eye - today they look over valleys and vineyards.

The route is divided into a total of 3 different circular routes and a "beach path of the senses" with 10 different stations and information boards. The round route Weinheimer Bucht starts in Alzey-Weinheim and is about 8.7 km long. The other two round routes are in Wöllstein and Flonheim and the beach path in Eckelsheim.

Sweet and renovated vineyard cottages and art in the middle of the vineyard await you on this hike. There are more than 20 different stations with works of art to admire on this circular route. It is up to you where you enter the route, but it is a good idea to use the car park at the first station of the "Buttenträger".
